The Beaches of Vendicari

The Citadel of Vendicari

Continuing northward we encounter the wonderful Vendicari Nature Reserve. This reserve is one of the most important in Italy and is a true paradise on earth for lovers of nature and beauty.

The Citadel beach is one of the most beautiful in Sicily, with its crystal clear waters and golden sand. It is an ideal destination for those seeking relaxation and tranquility.
The Vendicari Reserve is a 1,500-hectare protected area that stretches between San Lorenzo and Lido di Noto. This area is characterized by a wide variety of natural habitats, including wetlands, sand dunes and Mediterranean scrub.

Calamosche

The Reserve is home to several beaches including Calamosche a true piece of paradise. A beach set among the rocks that gives you a thrill with just the sight of it. In 2005 it was awarded the title of “Italy’s most beautiful beach” by the Legambiente Blue Guide.

Marianelli

Another beach in the reserve is Marianelli, which is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Here you can see rare species of birds such as the peregrine falcon, kingfisher and egret, as well as numerous species of plants and flowers.

Eloro

Vendicari’s last beach and resort is Eloro where there is also an ancient Greek city, this archaeological site has only recently been discovered and is a great opportunity to discover the history of ancient Sicily.

In the Reserve there are not only beaches but also protected flora and fauna, it is possible to see rare species such as the wild orchid and the sea lily.
The Caretta Caretta turtle is a protected species that also nests in the Vendicari Reserve, they are very important for the marine ecosystem and are a symbol of the biodiversity of the area.

Nature is the real protagonist of the Vendicari Reserve, which is an example of how beauty and biodiversity can coexist in harmony. This area is a real treasure of Sicily, which must be preserved and enhanced for future generations. We remind you that inside the Vendicari Oasis you can only access it on foot!
