Cavagrande del Cassibile

The Nature Reserve of Cavagrande del Cassibile is considered one of the wonders of Sicily, both from a historical and a naturalistic point of view.
From a historical point of view because here are the remains of the protohistoric necropolis of the indigenous peoples who lived here (1000-800 B.C.); the rock village used for tanning hides; and the Cunziria Cave.

From a naturalistic point of view because the Cassibile River, which flows through the Hyblaean plateau, creates small lakes of clear, cool water set among rocks and surrounded by ferns, oriental plane trees, oleanders and multiple herbs.

At the highest point, Etna can be seen.
